The Under 20 National Championships will be held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra from 13-17 February 2019.  All athletes and coaches will be accommodated at the AIS throughout the competition.

Basketball Northern Territory are calling for suitably qualified Coaches to apply for the position of Assistant Coach and Development Coach/Manager of the Northern Territory Under 20 Men’s team.

The Board of Basketball Northern Territory have appointed Pathway Manager Rod Tremlett to the positon of Head Coach of the Under 20 Men’s Team. Consistent with Basketball Northern Territory’s coach development plan created in consultation with Basketball Australia, Coach Tremlett will lead this team and Basketball NT will utilise this appointment to provide a development opportunity for an Assistant and Development Coach/ Team Manager.

The Assistant Coach will operate under the guidance of the Head Coach and will be involved in all aspects of the preparation of the team, including selections, team training and camps.  Ideally they would have a Club Level (Level 1) coaching accreditation and would be currently undertaking or recently have been undertaking coaching duties in their association.  

An opportunity also exists for a Development Coach/Team Manager.  Given the preparation of meals is not a requirement for the Manager’s position with this team, as all meals will be supplied by the AIS Dining Hall service and there is limited movement of the team that requires ground transport logistics, this presents an opportunity for a developing coach, with team experience, to undertake this role and gain both coaching and off court team management experience.  The unique location and senior appointments for this team, potentially lends this role to be open to a young or new coach with playing experience that would like to transition to a coaching / team management pathway.
