2012 Parkes Cup Final
The inaugural Final of the Parkes & District Amateur Soccer Association Inc. Parkes Cup will take place on Saturday 1 September, at Harrison Park, Parkes kicking off at 6pm between Tichborne Tigers and Lightning FC with curtain raiser games commencing at 3.30 and 4.45pm.
The Parkes Cup was introduced in 2012 for all the Parkes all age men’s sides to participate in and to promote a Parkes run competition with the hope that one day Parkes will be able to run their own senior men’s competition.
In 2012 6 of the 10 Parkes teams decided to nominate and participate in this competition with these teams being Lightning FC, Rawson Home Raptors, Rovers, Services, Star Hotel Expendables and Tichborne Tigers.
Results from each game were determined by their full time score in the Lachlansoccer competition. After each team played each other Tichborne Tigers finished to round matches in 1st position with Lightning FC running 2nd followed by Rawson Home Raptors, Rovers, Star Hotel Expendables and then Services.
Semi finals were then played to determine the 2 teams that would take on each other in the Final, 1st placed Tichborne Tigers took on 4th placed Rovers in the first semi final with Tigers winning this match 8-0, the second semi final saw 2nd placed Lightning FC come up against Rawson Home Raptors with Lightning FC winning this game 3-1, these results meant that Tichborne Tigers and Lightning FC would play off to be the first winners of the Parkes Cup.
Both these teams have only meet each other once this year after their first game of the season was washed out, when the two teams met Lightning FC came away with the win with the final score being 2-0.
Another close game can be predicted when these 2 teams clash again, with the tip of a result coming in extra time.
