Waitangi Weekend: Coach, Manager & Selector Workshops

We welcome you to attend this handy weekend of workshops which provide the opportunity for coaches who are keen to grow their own confidence, build on the basics and share ideas with other like-minded individuals.  Let us help you add more tricks to your coaching toolkit.

PLAYER CENTRED COACHING (3 hours)
This workshop consists of mental preparation, leadership and, effective coaching.  The module explores TGfU (Teaching Games for Understanding) in more detail and participants also look at leadership styles and effective use of questioning as they design and coach a TGfU activity with the support of the facilitator and the rest of the group.
When: Friday 3rd February
Time: 6.00pm to 9.00pm

SELECTING (2.5 hours)
This workshop builds on establishing policies and procedures and developing processes for electing that can be well utilised in preparation for trials.
When: Saturday 4th February
Time: 10.00am to 12.30pm

PLANNING (2 hours)
This workshop covers practice and game day planning, season planning, and evaluation methods and modifications.
When: Saturday 4th February
Time: 1.00pm to 3.00pm

SHOOTING (3 hours)
This module details the sequential steps involved in a successful shot. Learn activities that will assist the development of shooters including skill correction, shooting roles and movement.
When: Sunday 5th February
Time: 9.30am to 12.30pm

BALL SKILLS (2.5 hours)
This module covers coaching points for a variety of passes and develops an understanding of which pass could be best in various situations.
When: Sunday 5th February
Time: 1.00pm to 3.30pm

*If you may have missed attending Player Centred Coaching (PCC) please still feel free to get in touch to register as an exception can be given so long as you intend to complete PCC at the next available opportunity.

More about the Netball NZ Coach Accreditation Pathway

Suitable for all levels – those who are first-timers and those with plenty of years experience seeking fresh ideas.

This course lies within the new series of compulsory courses that contribute towards achieving the Community Coach Award I (CCA I).  It can also be completed by those with a particular interest in expanding their knowledge in this area.  Player Centred Coaching should first be completed prior to attending however if please get in touch to discuss options further.

Those already mid-way through completing the five compulsory modules that make up the former Community Coach Award (CCA) may still continue to do so before the 31st of January 2017.  These modules include Player Centred Coaching, Communication & Managing Others, Team Building, Skill Analysis and Planning.

From 31st January 2017 onwards the following changes will take effect:

Community Coach Award I (CCA I) is the second step and consists of 10 technical modules: Player Centred Coaching, Communication & Managing Others, Planning, Skills Analysis, Team Building, Selecting, Balls Skills, Attack 1, Defence 1, Shooting.  Includes further online and ongoing learning.

Community Coach Award II (CCA II) follows on from CCA I with seven additional tactical modules: Fit for the Season, Game Analysis, Mental Skills, Tournament Planning, Through Court, Centre Pass, Circle Work.  Includes further online and ongoing learning.

Performance Coach Qualification (PCQ) forms the next step on from CCA II with seven further additional modules: Enhancing Performance, Advanced Mental Skills I, Advanced Skill Acquisition I, Advanced Performance Planning, Advanced Mental Skills II, Advanced Skill Acquisition II and Advance Game Analysis.  Coaches must also be actively coaching for a minimum of 2 years at U17/U19/Premier Club level and above.  They must also undertake a Coach Development Plan, Practical Observations/Assessments and further online and ongoing learning.

Those wishing to progress from the former CCA onto PCQ will need to complete Fit for the Season, Mental Skills and Game Analysis prior to 31st January 2017 as well as meet the minimum requirement of 2 years coaching at U17/U19/Premier Club level in order to be eligible for entry.
