Junior Netball Programme - Term 2

Are you a keen-bean netballer in Year 1-4 who has been waiting patiently to get into the fantastic sport of NETBALL? Well, now's your chance! Our Term 2 Junior Netball Programme allows players as young as 5 years old to learn the basics and have a ton of fun in the process!

Following on from a Junior Netball Pilot programme run in Term 4 last year for our keen-bean Year 1-4 players we had a super fun time at our Term 1 programme.  The feedback from young participants and their parents has seen a big "thumbs up" response to this programme so we are excited to continue by offering the programme in Term 2.

This brand new Netball New Zealand initiative offers Year 1- 4 the opportunity to explore netball and learn basic movement and skills in a fun and positive learning environment.

Each week a new skill will be introduced and practiced followed by the chance to put them into a modified game of netball. Year 1 & 2 play a 4-on-4 game across one third using smaller soft-grip balls to make passing and catching a little easier and wider/lower hoops to increase the success rate when shooting.  Year 3 & 4 play a 5-on-5 game across two thirds of the court again using smaller balls and lower hoops all in the name of greater involvement and more fun.

Participants are welcome to take part in the programme as individuals as well as teams to assist team learning.

As this is a new initiative, we very much welcome those new to sports to come along to our first session on Monday 12th May to give it a go to see if they like the look of it before returning for more!

This programme also offers a FREE development opportunity to coaches/parents to get involved by assisting our Coordinators as Star Helpers for the full 7 week programme.  During that ime we intend to support you in building confidence as coaches of junior netball teams and introduce you to a variety of great activities included as part of our session plans.

Held at the ASB Sports Centre, 72 Kemp Street, Kilbirnie, Wellington
Mondays - 7 sessions
12th May - 30th June 2014 (no session on Queen's B'day)
Year 1 & 2 sessions held 3.30pm to 4.15pm
Year 3 & 4 sessions held 4.30pm to 5.15pm
Cost: $50 for 1st child, discounted to $40 for 2nd child
If keen to be a Star Helper you attend FREE while your child has a discount $40 fee.
Trial attendance welcome at the first session - $8 per child
