Jeffries Wins QBL Round 3 Player of the Week Award

The Brisbane Capitals are proud and excited to announce that Ryan Jeffries has won the QBL Round 3 Player of the Week award.

In just 27 minutes of court time, Jeffries’ contribution of 29 points at 61.1% from the field and 100% at the free-throw line, 10 rebounds, two assists and one steal went a long way to help the Capitals get their 101-74 win over the Mountaineers.

The Capitals built themselves a strong lead early in the game, ending the first half 57 - 40. The end of the third quarter saw the home side enjoy a 21-point lead, with Jeffries contributing nine points including a three-pointer in that period, before hitting 10 final quarter points to see Brisbane secure the 27-point victory.

It’s Jeffries’ first season with the Brisbane Capitals, the Ipswich product making the move following a number of strong seasons with his home team, the Force and a productive one-year stint with Rockhampton.

The guard/forward swingman has proved to be valuable for Brisbane, currently sitting on an average of 20.9 points per game, and pulling in an average of 7.3 rebounds per game. He stepped up this week against the Mountaineers, having been kept quiet last week with just 15 points against Gladstone and 18 in the opening round match against Toowoomba.

His inclusion in the new-look Capitals line-up alongside Dusty Rychart, import Drew Eisinger and fellow Ipswich Force alumnus Robert Manson has expectations high for the team this season, with Brisbane currently sitting 2 - 1 following their two wins over Toowoomba and a narrow loss against Gladstone.

In 2012 Jeffries averaged 10.9 points per game for Ipswich and in 2011 hit 10.6 points per game while playing for the Rockhampton Rockets.

With a bolstered Brisbane line-up and Jeffries’ ability to pull big numbers in a short space of time, the Capitals will be looking for continued good form from the 26-year old this season.
