WEAVER RARING TO GO IN FIRST HIT OUT FOR METEORETTES

The Global Product Search Mackay Meteorettes import Deanna Weaver is raring to go and ready to hit the floor after being cleared to play her first game for her new team this weekend against Rockhampton.  Deanna had to watch her teammates last weekend when they went 2-0 against the Townsville Flames in 2 preseason games, due to immigration and playing clearances not being granted, but after being given the all clear the 5ft 11inch shooting guard can’t wait to hit the floor.

Weaver has been working extremely hard with her teammates since arriving in Mackay in early April, and will be keen to get some time on the court ahead of the season opener on April 30th  v’s the Cairns Dolphins.

“It’s been great getting to know the girls on the practice court since arriving in early April, but there’s nothing like suiting up in a game and playing alongside your teammates”, Weaver said.  “We have been working extremely hard with our team structures over the past 3 weeks and I am excited to be a part of this program and I am willing to play whatever role our coach requires me to”, said Weaver.

Head Coach Mick Virgo was extremely happy that Deanna has now been cleared to play.  “We are super keen to see what Deanna can bring to the table for the group this year.  We believe her versatility and ability to shoot the ball consistently from the perimeter is going to give the group a great boost.”, Virgo said.

Get down to the Crater at McDonalds Mackay Stadium on Saturday night and see your Global Product Search Meteorettes take on Rockhampton Cyclones, tipping off at 6pm.

The McDonalds Meteors game v’s the Rockhampton Rockets will follow at 8pm.
