This weekend our ABL squads are having their first hitouts against the Eastern Mavericks.  Women tip off at 6 PM, the men at 7.30 PM at STARplex.  All welcome.
 
The Women's side has had a somewhat unsettling preparation with the late addition of interim Head Coach, Andrew Jantke.   The team has had an amazing couple of years taking the program from perennial cellar dwellars to back to back finals series.  MVP of the league last season Jess Mahony returns for the Lions as does the ever dominant Lill Keane who is set to have her biggest year yet.  Coach Jantke believes that the Women will have lots of challenges before them but are an amazingly competitively, resilient group and any challenges will only make them stronger.  Coach Jantke is hopeful of making a major addition to the squad in the coming weeks, stay tuned for more information.
 
Our men's team is restocked with the return of a few players and some great new additions.  Kyle Miller has arrived from the US and had a major impact on the CABL last season.  We've also added Chris Clausen, who was a Lion junior, but has spent a few years in the USA including playing in the NCAA.  With all key players returning, and 3 pt shooting gun Matt Atkins making a comeback Coach Whitmore is confident he has the players that will play a successful, exciting brand of basketball.
