Rescheduled Junior District Games

Please read and take note of the following calendar dates on which games postponed due to heat and quarantine will be replayed.more

Basketball SA Swine Update

Basketball SA Junior District Competition (U10 – U20/21)

Basketball SA would like to inform all that we have made a decision to postpone all junior district basketball games scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday (11, 12, 13 June 2009).

Basketball SA is aware that there are a number of teams that have attended the tournaments in Melbourne this past weekend and therefore we need to consider the likely outcome that a number of people will be under a self imposed 7-day quarantine (as per the Dept of Health recommendation). Given this, there would be a significant number of teams that may not be able to participate in the scheduled district games this week.

Whilst we recognize that this decision may inconvenience participants that did not visit Melbourne, we believe that it is a responsible action for the good of the district basketball community.

Our competitions staff will endeavor to inform everyone of the dates and times for the rescheduling of the postponed games as soon as possible.

Basketball SA – Senior District and CABL Games

The Senior District Basketball games & CABL shall be played this week as scheduled. Given the alert raised by SA Health only relates to school aged children visiting Melbourne we believe that there is no need to take any action for the Senior District or CABL schedule.

Whilst we recognize that some juniors may normally participate in senior or CABL games, we believe this would only be a minority. In the vast majority these competitions have adult participants, who have not been raised as a concern under the latest health department alert and therefore should not be disrupted by this issue.
