The weekend of 25-26 February saw the start to the 2012 Victorian fencing season - a larger start than we have seen for some years, with 18 teams competing over the three open events.
The Open Epee teams was won by "Team Osvath" from Virtual Swords, with the Olympia A team coming a close second. The deciding bout was decided in priority time with the final score being 37-36. Olympia is the newest fencing club on the Victorian scene.
The Open Foil teams again saw the teenagers from Blacklords victorious, with Virtual Swords second. A large field of eight teams came from seven clubs.
Finally, the Open Sabre teams was won by Virtual Swords, with Monash University taking silver.
All of the Team events were attended by the respective State Coaches - Vlad Sher, Aleksey Danilov, and Michael Takagi.
Thanks to Karen Duffy, who was selling cool drinks on Sunday.
