Disability Sport and Recreation launched the 2011 Wheelchair Fencing Program in May.
Wheelchair Fencing is a dynamic sport that is both tactically and physically challenging. It’s a very fast paced version of traditional fencing that involves concentration and co-ordination, precision and alertness.
Fencers' wheelchairs are fastened to the floor, allowing freedom of movement and the added security to experience fencing.
The program takes place on Monday nights from 6:30pm-8:00pm, at Fioretto Fencing Club, at a once-off cost of $50. This entitles each registered participant access to all training equipment and accredited coaches. The program continues into early August.
