Season Preview - Woodville Women
The gist: With a new coach, a fresh outlook and a strong preseason under the belts, the Warriors are optimistic they can move up the ladder in 2013.
The stat: The Warriors’ win against West Adelaide last season was their first against their closest rivals in the last decade.
The star: Katherine Perkas has averaged at least 11 ppg in each of her three seasons in the league. She will be 21 at the start of the season, so look for a breakout year.
The x-factor: Jessica Koch has made the move from Bulgaria, having experienced a reasonably successful stint. How will she adapt to playing for this new look Warriors outfit?
The glass half-full: The Warriors have made many changes to the team that won just three games last season, and having come second in the preseason tournament, they could be this year’s wildcard. They only need to look to Centrals in 2011 and Eastern last year to see how quickly things can change.
The glass half-empty: Change does not necessarily guarantee success, and it may take some time for the Warriors to get used to one another.
The verdict: This should be a better season for the Warriors than 2012. A seventh placed finish with 6-8 wins seems feasible.
