Mackay.AFLQ.com.au preview the Under 17 Mackay Isuzu UTE Cup Preliminary Final between the Eastern Swans and the Whitsunday Sea Eagles.
Minor Premiers the Eastern Swans are coming off a tough game against the North Mackay Saints in last weekends Qualifying Final and will need to focus on bringing their high paced intensity to the opening 5 minutes of this match up.
Whitsunday's will be fresh and ready to rumble.
Though the Sea Eagles will need to forget about previous results and focus on the contest at hand. In their last head to head match up the Swans were too good, winning by 155 points but do not read into this result too much.
The Sea Eagles were missing a number of key contributors the Round 17 home and away fixture and will be quietly confident going into this game.
HEAD to HEAD results in 2015
Rd 17 - Eastern Swans 27.12 (174) def. Whitsunday 3.1 (19) @ Harrup Park
Rd 14 - Whitsundays 11.13 (79) def. Eastern Swans 11.5 (71) @ Rogers Oval
Rd 11 - Eastern Swans 12.8 (80) def. Whitsundays 7.12 (54) @ Rogers Oval
Rd 8 - Whitsundays 14.13 (97) def. Eastern Swans 9.16 (70) @ Airlie Beach
With the ledger at 2 wins a piece, this game could go either way but the big result is the last match up played at Harrup Park where this game will be played this time round.
Swan Lachlan Clarke has enjoyed playing against the Sea Eagles this year averaging 4-goals per match and a player that goes under most teams radars when they look at match ups. A medium size forward, with exceptional agility and ground level skills and kicks uncanny goals. Sea Eagle Michael Maltby might be the ideal match up for Clarke.
Another Swan Harrison Arnold has also created headaches in his high half forward role, his ability to kick long range goals and go into the midfield from a 180cm+ player is exceptional.
For the Sea Eagles Rhys Fuhrmann has had an incredible season and will no doubt finish highly in the vote count on Sunday. Fuhrmann is a hard running outside player, with superb foot skills and has developed into a handy inside player. He may go head to head with Brandon DeAngelis, who is a very similar player to Fuhrmann.
Though this match may be decided on the teams coaching boxes, two completely different styles of coaching and whichever coach can pull the coaching trigger early when the game is in the balance will give their side the upper hand.
Final say.....
Both teams boast impressive lists with hard running outside players, key forwards but whichever sides defensive unit can rebound the oppositions attacking raids and send the footy inside their forward fifty the quickest, will win.
