The North Queensland AFL Community is mourning the tragic death of rising star, Blake Bailey.
Seventeen year-old Blake, a 2015 Gold Coast SUNS Academy player, was hoping to break into the U18 state program in 2015 and his loss will be heavily felt throughout the football community.
An athletic tall, Bailey played 14 senior games for the Eastern Swans in the Mackay League this season, kicking 12 goals ,as well as representing the SUNS Academy in pre-season matches.
Bailey showed plenty of potential on the field, but it was his warm, energetic personality that made him such a treasured and respected teammate and friend.
He was a highly motivated, driven teenager who set the example for others. Blake brought enthusiasm and positivity to everything that he did, in and out of football.
He will be greatly missed.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
Counselling services will be provided for those who would like them. For more information, contact AFL Mackay regional manager, David Harding on david.harding@aflq.com.au
