AFL Victoria’s Youth Girls Academy was visited this month by yoga instructor, Antoinette Campana. The purpose of the yoga session was to identify different ways that players can train for football without having to kick a football. The session focussed on developing core strength and stability, a vital ingredient in skill execution and injury prevention. Antoinette challenged the players to focus on themselves and filter out all other distractions to help them concentrate on getting the most from the exercises. She concluded the session with a meditation exercise, reminding the players that they need to look after their minds as much as their bodies in their quest to become the best footballers they can be. Antoinette's services were kindly donated by the Windy Hill Fitness Centre, through AFL Victoria's partnership with the Essendon Football Club.
