About Us

The Cooma Basketball Association is a community not-for-profit association providing basketball development programs to boys and girls, men and women of the Snowy Mountains. The association has been running successfull competitions on the Monaro for over 50 years. In 1980 with the support of the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation the association worked with the Cooma Monaro Shire Council and other community supporters to develop the Cooma Basketball Stadium facilities from the old Snowy Hydro Sheds. This included works on renewed flooring, markings, electronic scoring, backboards, rings, signage, toilets, canteen, scorers desk and spectator seating facilities. The facility has undergone a number of upgrades to roofing and lighting and in 2014 will see disabled access and storage facilities included as well.

In 2011 in conjunction with the Monaro High School the Cooma Basketball Association hosted a working beeto upgrade sponsor signage and scorers facilities at the stadium. This same group of volunteers and

committee then hosted a Guiness Book of Records fundraiser for the longest continuous game of

Basketball (succesfully achieved approximately 32 hours) for which the group set about supporting

participants to travel to flood ridden fiji to assist with social and sporting recovery efforts via basketball

engagement programs.
