AGM

Warragul & District Amateur Basketball Association (WDABA)

THE FUTURE OF THE WDABA IS IN YOUR HANDS!

Urgent action is now required - Important information for all participants and members!

WARRAGUL & DISTRICT BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION BOARD

The WDABA AGM was conducted on Wednesday, 27 November 2019. Members present were given a report on the Governance and Operations of the Association and a comprehensive Financial Report on year ending 30 June 2019 was tabled and adopted.

The members heard that through the work of all, the Association is in a position of strength across a well developed Strategic Plan 2019-2021 and strong finances.

The key priorities for the Association at a Board level moving into 2020 is the continued implementation of the actions of the Strategic Plan, continued advocacy and lobbying towards Facility Development and continued prudent fiscal management

At the AGM, there were insufficient nominations from members to fill vacant positions on the Board and as of today, the Board numbers sit at 3 and are below the required Quorum as per the WDABA Constitution. The Constitution and the applicable State Act advise that no Board Business can be conducted until the Quorum is met. This will see the associations operations generally continue as normal, however important work required by the Board will be placed on hold.

Urgent action is now required The remaining Board Members are now seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) from WDABA Members, interested in assisting the association towards our vision and goals.

Under the Constitution, the Board can fill a casual vacancy with a member of the association and can co opt up to 2 people, who are not required to be members, onto the Board.

This needs to be completed as a matter of urgency and the Board is seeking EOI’s to be forwarded to Jodie Harlow – jodie.harlow@bvcc.net.au by 5pm on Friday 6 December 2019. The remaining members of the Board will assess EOI’s following that date.

It cannot be stressed enough how important the next few weeks are in achieving a full Board and continuing to work with Baw Baw Shire Council and others on the progress towards improved and redeveloped facilities.

An Expression of Interest Form is below and includes attributes the Board is seeking.
