COULD your football club do with $10,000 worth of sports gear? Well, here's your chance...
THE AFL is running a competition to find Australia's favourite footy jumper. It is part of the league's celebrations of 150 years of footy and sports clothing giant, Nike, has jumped on board...
ENTRIES are now open for all junior and senior football clubs across the country who think their playing kit is colourful, strange, clever, fashionable or just interesting, to take part in 150years.com.au's search for Australia's favourite footy jumper.
All you need to do is take a photo of your club kit (jumper, shorts and socks) modelled expertly by one of the players at your club, and then tell us in 100 words why it's so great.
How to enter
Step 1: Take a great photo of one of your players posing in your full club kit, to show Australia what all the fuss is about. Tips: Make sure it's not too dark and watch out for shadows; Get your model to put their hands on their hips or by their side so everyone can see the design in all its glory because if they're crossing their arms or clutching a footy to their chest, it might be covering up the most important part; Show us around your club at the same time by taking your photo in front of the scoreboard, the clubhouse, the sausage sizzle or anywhere else you think would make a great background.
Step 2: Write down, in about 100 words, what's so great about your club's playing uniform. Make sure you capture the essence of why your jumper's unique, how it got to be that way and what it means to your club and your community, ie: Is there an interesting story behind the design? Do the colours hold some special significance? Has your club merged with other clubs so many times that you're now wearing a mix of seven different colours?
Entries close at 5pm on Friday, August 15, after which 150years.com.au's expert panel will sift through your entries to select the 20 best. Then, starting on August 25, we'll open up the voting to Australia's footy-loving public to pick their favourite from the top 20.
Prizes
The winning club will be announced on Wednesday, September 17, and will receive 60 sets of training gear from Nike -- that's $10,000 worth of t-shirts, shorts, socks and kit bags -- as well as the glory and honour that goes with being Australia's best-dressed footy team.
* The entry form can viewed by clicking on the featured guernsey on the panel to the right of this page.
