WITH boyish good looks and the physique of an elite athlete to match Sharrod Wellingham seems a logical choice for the annual Cleo Bachelor of the Year award.
The 23-year-old Nyoongar AFL premiership player, Wellingham (pictured) is among more than 250 bachelors from around the country nominated for the 2012 award.
That number will culled down to 50 in March with the winner announced in the magazine's Bachelor of the Year issue in April.
Wellingham doesn't know who nominated him but he's going to have fun with it anyway.
On the footy field, Wellingham is on an upward trajectory.
He is a first-22 at the Magpies and has played in the club's past three grand finals (2010 draw and replay, 2011), being part of the club's breakthrough premiership in 2010.
From Perth, Wellingham became just the fifth Indigenous footballer at Collingwood when selected as the 10th pick at the 2006 AFL rookie draft.
He made his AFL debut on one of the game's biggest stages, the annual Anzac Day match, against Essendon in 2008.
