Brisbane Outer Schools League began in 2013 as a basketball competition to give students a club quality competition where they could represent their school on a weekly basis. The competition grew from 5 schools to 11 schools in 2014 and work began to create a League of multiple sports.
The Volleyball competition began in 2015 with just 10 teams. The competition has expanded steadily over the years with 2018 seeing the most participation yet. In 2019 Volleyball became the first BOSL competition to be managed completely via the BOSL SportsTG website. In 2019 Volleyball became the first BOSL competition to be managed completely via the BOSL SportsTG website. The 2020 BOSL Volleyball season was cancelled due to the global pandemic. In 2021 BOSL Junior and Intermediate divisions were introduced for the very first time for a record number of students playing club quality volleyball for their schools.
Matches are played at Grace Lutheran College Rothwell on Monday and Thursday afternoons.
