It seems to be a growing tradition that Mike and Leigh Ackland turn on a curry night over the Christmas holiday period. This year, the first suggestion (rumour) of a curry night resulted in a very enthusiastic response and the curry feast was held on Sunday December 30th. A lamb curry (7 KG of diced lamb), and a vegetarian curry were served.
This year a record 68 people attended, and while $6 was charged to cover costs, everyone chipped in with further donations to Cottage by the Sea. A total profit of $275 was donated.
The spontaneous unplanned nature of this event seems to be part of its success - though there were quite a few families who showed up after New Year who wished they knew about it in advance. Maybe we can do a little
promotion next time?
Mike suspects he will find it difficult to dodge this fun event next Christmas. So he has already warned Queenscliff Farm Foods of an impending giant order of lamb some time between Boxing Day and New Year!!!
Apologies to a few of our club members who were left with the dregs as we ran out of curry with several people still to be served.
Mike promises to crank up the quantity of food served next time!!
