U15 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS WRAPS UP AFTER ACTION-PACKED WEEK

KAMLOOPS, B.C. – The Canada Basketball U15 National Championships concluded over the weekend with strong performances by both Ontario boy’s and girl’s teams to capture gold in their respective divisions.

Ontario girl’s team defeated BC Blue 43-36 to capture its 5th consecutive U15 National Championship. Onario’s boy’s team also met BC Blue in the finals and came away with a dominating 87-60 victory to secure the championship title for the second year in a row.

Alberta boys and girls rounded out the awards by capturing the bronze medals at the National Championships. Alberta boys defeated Saskatchewan 64-51 to secure their spot on the podium, while the Alberta girls team came away with a 66-52 win over Manitoba.

“It’s been great partnering with Canada Basketball to host this tournament for the second year in a row” said Ken Olynyk, Tournament Chair.  “It was wonderful seeing some of the best young players in Canada playing here in Kamloops.”

The final standings for the 2009 Canada Basketball U15 National Championships are as follows:
