In better weather conditions and after a solid result yesterday, Team Guam prevailed with a dominant 241.5 lb catch, just 40 lbs shy of the combined total of the team's two participants yesterday.
Settiling into their work just out from White Bird Island, Team Guam found themselves well clear of other teams and were able to capitalize on a rich harvest of good-sized fish to outpoint their closest rivals from Pohnpei and Yap.
Guam has a very experienced and well-equipped crew that has a great deal of international spearfishing experience. On this occasion, this strength was too much for the other teams as they managed to more than double the catch size of the next best team.
This was the second gold medal for Mike Genereux with Taylor Paul advancing on his Bronze in the individual event to score team Silver and mark himself as one of the best fishermen at this tournament. Well done Team Guam!!
