Farewell to our Beijing bound
There were 7 Australian representatives at this weekend's Wenty Leagues versus Brisbane double-header. Given that this was the last NWBL game for both teams, it was fitting that the Paralympians receive a fond farewell and best wishes from teammates and the crowd.
Of course everyone who reads this website knows very well our Gliders representatives. There's Gliders coach Gerry Hewson, team captain Liesl Tesch, and guards Kylie Gauci and Tina McKenzie. At the Brisbane end of the court, there were 2 Rollers representatives - guards Adrian King and Tige Simmons. The seventh representative may not be as well known but he will be looking to have a great Paralympics like everyone else. NWBL referee and webmaster, Matt Wells, will make his Paralympic debut in Beijing. Matt does have one NWBL duty remaining and that is to referee in the finals in 2 weeks time in Melbourne.
Also, you will still get one more chance to catch all the Gliders in action at the Women's National League finals next weekend. All the details are below so get along and cheer for our girls as they look to medal in Beijing.
