Playing for pride

Wenty comes into this weekend on a 3-game losing streak and out of the finals running. It was just a few short weeks ago that they had a 3-4 record and the chance to grab 4th place if they could beat Dandenong a second time in the double-header in Melbourne. However, it wasn’t to be, and subsequent losses to top-of-the-ladder Perth and Wollongong ended the WheelKings hopes.

Latham breaks out, shakes down Thunder

Monday, 14th July, 2008
Bill Latham had the best performance of his NWBL career during the WheelKings’ 90-44 victory over Adelaide on Friday night. Just a few days after missing out on selection for the Rollers’ Beijing campaign, he made a statement by scoring 45 points at a conversion rate of 70%, gathering in 16 rebounds, and even finding some spare time to pass the ball for 5 assists. Not to be outshone, it was Bill’s teammates who created a lot of his opportunities and they all made an impression on the stats sheet as well.
