Great start to a very competitive game of football.
Our first quarter started great with 2 goals in the first 5 minutes.
The mid field clearances were right on the money, and you all worked like a team should.
Our efforts continued throughout the game and we managed to keep to our structures.
Our turnovers were kept to a minimum and stoppage work around the ground was fantastic.
In order to progress for finals we need to put together full game efforts which we are close to at the moment.
Special mentions:
Hamish Brennan – Hammers
Shaniel Kumar – Shazza
Mitchell Harry – Harry
Cam Smith – Cam
Ethan Crowhurst – Crowey
Daniel Epifano – Epi
Riley Howe – Howsey
All players put in and never gave up.
Hammers - who has come off a broken finger managed to have a massive impact and his acceleration and drive with the ball out of the centre was second to none.
Shazza - who we recently moved up forward has to this role as he does with all roles and is becoming a key forward with his relentless running and creativity around the contest.
Harry has recently been moved from the backline to the ruck and in his first year of football is proving to be one of the most revered players at the contest. His ruckwork is fast on the improve and his attack at the football along with contact on the opposition player is quite impressive.
Cam - was given a role in the backline to shut a player down who kicked 4 goals in the first quarter. Cam has a very competitive spirit and refuses to give in at the contest which was proven in the one on one where he managed to shut down and move the ball out of the danger zone.
Crowey – Well if you watch him play you will understand how tough he is. When tackled and put to the ground Crowey is straight back up in fighting spirit to tackle the opposition and let them know he is no easy target. Playing football in this manner is an instinctive asset that we all need in a team sport.
Epi – Even after a late night and a party our Captain managed to give everything he had under the bonnet. In the first quarter he really got the game going with great clearance work and good disposal into the forward line. Efforts around the ground were fought at like a man possessed – As always.
Howsey – MR RILEY HOWE arrived in the better late than never fashion. He had an immediate impact on the game with great body strength and fantastic disposal of the football. Getting in the correct positions and reading the play is his asset which he used throughout the game on many occasions. His strength and competitive nature around the contest your team mates all appreciate.
In closing, I would like to thank Jesza and Artan who came up from the under 14’s and played a stella game for us. You boys are active, skillful and competitive players whohelped us get the result. Thanks again for the Chop out.
Go Bears
