The three-week Waikato Basketball/Secondary School skills academy kicked off last Tuesday night at St Peter's Cambridge. Over 40, Year 9 and 10 secondary school students (including some Waikato U13 representative players) were in attendance. The students completed skill drills for one hour then were drafted into teams to play stop clock games. The academy focussed on skill drills for secondary school athletes as well as enabling new coaches to basketball to observe and learn. A big thank you to academy coaches Leanne Walker and Miriam Stevens.
