Tigers roaring their way to home semi-final

Leicester chief Richard Cockerill admitted his side’s impressive recent form will have sent out a clear message to their rivals ahead of the end of season finals. A fifth straight bonus point victory for Leicester saw the club climb to second in the table, giving them a great chance of now earning themselves a home semi-final come the play-offs. Betfair English Rugby odds suggest they may squeeze it and are one of the better Betfair recomendations.

The Tigers earned their place in the record books with their fifth straight bonus point victory, comprehensively beating Northampton 35-21 to strengthen their chances of reclaiming the Premiership title. With a trip to league leaders Harlequins still to come before a final day clash against Bath, Leicester will be looking to continue their sensational form going into this crucial part of the season.

England fly-half Toby Flood helped himself to 25 points against Northampton, grabbing two of his side’s four tries and kicking 15 points. Horacio Agulla and Alesana Tuilagi also went over for the Tigers, leaving Cockerill pleased with how his side had continued their winning streak.

"Psychologically, that sends out a massive message to the rest of the sides we are going to play. I am delighted with the bonus point but any win here would have been a good result.”

"A home tie would be key for us because at Welford Road we would back ourselves to beat anyone.”

"We have said for the last few weeks we would like a home semi-final. You have to be realistic because the other sides around us are good,” added Cockerill.

As well as sending a message to Leicester’s title chasing rivals, Flood’s personal performance will have been a timely reminder to new England head coach Stuart Lancester, who will soon be planning for this summer’s tour of South Africa. Owen Farrell is currently the man in possession of the number-10 jersey, although if Flood can keep producing points hauls like this, then he will certainly have a strong case for a recall.
