The 2019 footy and netball season is just around the corner and the Bombers enter the year with a real feeling of excitement.
Fresh off a successful 2018 campaign across the club, which culminated in B Grade netball and u/17s football premierships, we are looking to capitalise on that momentum and take a real leap forward this year.
In the senior football, Gareth Hose is at the helm for a second year.
After getting into the role in 2018 he has had the group for a full pre-season this year and says it is paying dividends.
There has been a large group of players getting on track and with a young and talented list at our disposal we are looking at an exciting year ahead.
Most of last year's side is sticking around for another year in the red and black, topped up by some high quality recruits such as returning stars Tom Cooper, Minyip-Murtoa and Nathan Byrne, Horsham Saints, both of which bring Wimmera League experience to the club.
Other notable signings include goal kicking machine Matt Walsh, who will travel from Geelong to bolster the NQ forward line, Clayton Jardine, who joins us full time from Warrack after playing on permit last year and pacy Corey Williams, Penola.
In the reserves, we've lured our last 2s premiership coach back in Jardy Walter, who will team up with Jase Kerr for the job.
The u/17s will again be ably coached by Rocket Hogan, and while many of last year's flag-winning side have graduated to open-age footy this year he expects a strong group to come together once more this season.
Dusty Cross will again be in charge of the u/14s and reports there is a large and enthusiastic group of players.
On the Auskick front, numbers continue to boom, Tracka Treacy is in charge of the little tackers and expects to have about 30 children participating this year, which is a great result from a small community.
It was a tough year for our senior netballers in 2018 with nearly everything that could go wrong doing so with a swag of injuries decimating our chances.
However, the girls have rebounded strongly and are looking forward to a big year.
The Francis sisters, Yolly Molineaux and Georgia Francis are again coaching the A Grade side, while Chloe Gabbe and Ash McKinnon are in charge of the B Grade.
Prue Eldridge is stepping up to the plate to take care of the C Grade side while Georgia will be busy, also looking after the C Res girls.
On the junior front, Prue is the u/17s coach, experienced Sharon Fedke is taking the u/15s, Kim Kelly and Rachel Pipkorn will look after the u/13s and club legend Fiona Rowe is taking the Net Set Go program.
Yolly says the sides are in a strong position leading into the season, with good numbers.
On the recruiting front, we welcome back Louisa Vague from a stint at Dimmy.
Big thanks, once again, must go out to our tireless band of volunteers that have the facilities looking immaculate after a long, hot summer.
Let's hope it can be another successful season for the Bombers both on and off the field!more -->
