Game Day Volunteers/Helpers
Helpers on game days
As a club we regularly hold ‘home game’ days at Briggs Rd Sporting Complex during the season. These days are great for the club and help us to have as many of our teams as possible play in the 1 location. This also creates a great amount of work in setting up and running the games for the day. The majority of this work is consistently being done by the same people on a weekly basis, who on top of these jobs also Endeavour to coach and manage teams during the day, over the course of a season this can become taxing on those people. For a club with our size, I’m sure we can alleviate the workload on these people as many hands make light work. Following is some of the jobs that are required to ensure game days can run smoothly for the kids:
- Setting up of fields and officials tents prior to games starting ( usually around 7.45 – 8 am )
- Duty officials – we are required to have duty officials present for all games on both fields throughout the day
- Time keeping – again one per field to keep time and sound siren for start, halftime and finish of games.
- Packing up – at the end of games, dismantling official’s tents, picking up markers, packing up game gear.
These are all relatively small tasks providing we can share the workload. If you can spare some time (even half an hour to an hour) before, after or during your child’s games it would be greatly appreciated by all involved at the club.
