Last year the League joined forces with the Organ and Tissue Authority and Gremmo Family to raise awareness for Organ Donation.
It was a very simple yet successful campaign which was supported by thousands of schools and workplaces to simply start a conversation about organ donation, it is not a fundraiser activity. In addition several media outlets including News Limited and Channels 7/9 & 10 supported the campaign and I’m please to advise that this year Foxtel has also agreed to promote and support the campaign along with 2GB as you will see in the attached link. www.jerseyday.com.au .
JERSEY DAY is a simple concept designed to raise awareness of The Organ and Tissue Authority and the DONATE LIFE network.
On September 2 we are asking schools and workplaces across Australia to allow students and employees to wear their favourite sporting jersey to school or work to show their support for the DONATE LIFE network and begin the conversation with their friends and families about Organ Donation.
I would like to confirm that the various Leagues will support the awareness campaign and promote the wearing of the staff members favourite jersey on the Friday. This Friday is also the last competition round of the regular season and it provided a great social opportunity for the staff within the game to celebrate the season and prepare for the final series. I have attached a couple of photos from last year.
I look forward to the active promotion and support of this very important cause.
