Last Sunday Grenfell Girlannas took on Eugowra Eagles at Lawson Oval in a game that was set to be a hard battle.
The Girlannas hit the field with determination to start the season on a high. The mix of previous players and an injection of a few younger legs made all the difference.
Eugowra have been a dominant team in Women’s League Tag since the competition started and the plan for the day was to match them on the field.
With the game now running 25 minutes each half this gave the Girlannas time to settle into a nice flow.
Anna Brenner showed her usual brilliance with fast attacking runs and quick play combining with her sister Prue Hancock to score two tries for the team. Prue and Danielle Smith ran in a try each, both displaying great pace in attack.
New addition to the team Chelsea Anderson put on an amazing display of speed and hitting the holes, running in two tries.
Tay Tay Frost had a good day with the boot in general play and converting three from six, bringing the final score to 30 points to 10.
The entire team defended brilliantly holding a tight defence line and frustrating the opposition.
All players tagged sensationally and the ball movement from all players was something to be seen.
The girls take on the Condobolin Rams this Sunday at Condo.
We wish all travelling good luck.
