You may have seen some familiar faces in the media this week. As you know, a lot of our U16 and U18 Bears players attend Farrer High School. They often play comp footy on the weekends (not only in their own age group but backing up for senior grades) and then go on to tackle schoolboy comps during the week (oh to be young again!).
On Sunday both the U16 and U18's secured their place in the Group 4 Grand Final, and yesterday the boys took on Dubbo College for a chance to defend their title in the University Shield.
The boys aren't shy of a big win and this year they have smashed their Group 4 opposition out of the water winning by 40, 50, 60 points each week. Yesterday was no different with a big win over Dubbo College 48 - 10 giving them a chance to defend the title two years in a row.
Fullback Callum Hayne dived in for the first try followed by Dylan Manicaros who plays five-eighth for the Bears U18s but lock for Bears First Grade and Farrer. Other results included: Callum Hayne 3, Dylan Manicaros 2, Lyle Haughton, Jake Cocking, Tom Say & Zack Leonard all scoring tries, with Dylan Manicaros 4 goals & Corey Manicaros with 2 goals.
This weekend we will see Hayne, Manicaros, and Cocking back up and play with Bears First Grade against Wee Waa in the Preliminary Final.
One thing is for sure they definitely won't be short of practice!
