VALE STEPHEN ( BORNY) HANSON
The Dundas Shamrocks Community are in mourning after the death of Stephen Hanson, valued club member (Known as Borny) 2015 U17s coach.
He suffered a heart attack 15th October, while on holiday in Thailand, with his wife Roz.
He spent time in Bumrungrad International hospital until 29th, when he was stable enough to medivac to Concord Hospital.
He passed away yesterday afternoon Wednesday 4th November, at the far too early age of 54.
He leaves behind his wife Roslyn, children Elyce (22) and Mitchell ( 24), family and friends.
Steve was a true gentleman, family man, great friend, passionate and dedicated sportsman.
A great ambassador and mentor for our game.
Steve (Borny) Hanson played six seasons of first grade at the North Sydney Bears from 1985 through 1990.
He then played at Eastern Suburbs Roosters under legendary coach Jack Gibson where he spent the 1992 and 1993 seasons.
The highlight of his career came in 1988 when he was called up for the third State of Origin game to replace Phil Daley
When he retired after the 1993 season he took up coaching, taking the helm of the McMahons Point A Grade in the North Sydney competition
He has been a valued member of the Dundas Shamrocks and Balmain Junior League since 2007, involved with A Grade, U21s,and the long serving coach of 2014 U16s Premiers.
He has coached and mentored many young talented men over the years, he will be deeply missed by all in the community.
