With the New Year only a few days away and the 2015 BDAFL season fast approaching the cats are getting ready for a stellar season. New head coach Scotty has expressed his desire for a solid preseason from which the team can build and he already has many great ideas for pushing the boys to their limits. Pre-season training is scheduled to commence on the 20th of January with more details to follow shortly along with junior preseason start dates.
The Muswellbrook cats are proud to announce a new initiative that should put the Cats on the map. The 2015 season will see the inaugural “Muswellbrook Cats Invitational Shield.” This preseason round robin event will allow invited teams to test themselves against other strong clubs before the season commences. The club hopes this will become an annual event and with it being an INVITE ONLY event other clubs will be doing everything they can to score an invitation to future events.
The 2015 BDAFL DRAFT draw was released on Christmas Eve as an early Christmas present for the Cats. The 2015 draw looks to benefit the cats with a good spread of home and away games including three Sunday games and a great final 5 games four of which will be at home leading into the finals. Unfortunately the cats will only play new 2nd division team Killarney Vale once early in the season so we won’t know much about how they will hold up but coming from such a strong club we can expect a strong game. The “Nathan Duncan Shield” will again be played during the season against Singleton with details to be worked out between the clubs in due process.
The Cats play The Entrance, Maitland, Cardiff, Wyong, Lake Macquarie and Singleton twice while playing Killarney Vale, Terrigal Avoca, Newcastle and Warners Bay only once if there are no changes to the draft draw.
Muswellbrook Cats President Ken “The Mountain Goat” Garland said “It’s a good solid draw one on which the cats should be able to make the most of and with three trophies’ up for grabs (Cats Invitational Shield, Nathan Duncan Shield, BDAFL 2nd Division Premiership) the cats will need to perform each and every week. I know that with good work and help from the great and powerful God Poseidon that the Cats will have a season to remember.”
Hopefully the junior draws will be available soon and we can start planning for some great season in the juniors to follow up from some stellar 2014 seasons.
The Cats DRAFT draw will be available on the cats Facebook page but remember that this may change with the final draw not being released until late January. If you have any concerns, comments or feedback on the draw please contact the Club.
