This weekend in Singleton, the Muswellbrook Cats take on the Singleton Roosters for the Nathan Duncan Shield.
Nathan played all his junior football in Singleton for the roosters. When he was 18 he moved back home from Victoria and started playing mid-season for the Muswellbrook Cats, he only played 7 games in his first year and was awarded Backman of the year. Nathan loved playing footy and the mates he met through it.
Nathan passed away at the age of 18 from cardiomyopathy. He was playing touch football in the backyard with his mates and myself.
The shield means a lot to myself and my family because it's a day to honour and remember Nathan and the love he had for football.
Nathan will be watching over us this weekend and will be excited to keep the undefeated streak going and bring the shield home where it belongs.
