The cats had a disappointing weekend going down to the second place Newcastle City but the cats can hold their heads high as they put it all on the line and put in a big effort. Newcastle didn’t get the best start to the day forgetting their jerseys and pushing the start time back slightly but when both teams were dressed the game was on!
The cats got off to a great start trailing by only 3 points at the first quarter thanks to a great effort by our backline. The Cats ruck Eoin Dennehy injured his back early in the first quarter but luckily Gareth Goode was on the bench and raring to get involved holding his own in the middle of the park.
The second quarter saw the cats holding onto the city folk trailing by ten and going into half time the coach had only simple tasks for the players get involved and be disciplined. The cats took that into the third quarter however through some costly 50m Penalties City were able to stretch out their lead to 15 points.
The final quarter saw City run away with the win finishing the game 9.6.60 – 13.11.89. The cats put in a big effort and are already looking towards next week and clawing their way back into the top 4. All 9 goals on the cat’s team were scored by different players in an unusual event.
Best on ground where Jedd Stojakovic, Mark McLaughlin, David Howard, Nigel Smith, Jake Parker and Adam Higham with young Jake Parker claiming players player this week.
