De Amicis: ‘Attitude and commitment of the team has been first class’

On the eve of the 2017 NPL2 West season, Fausto De Amicis is feeling good ahead of first competitive game in charge of the Moreland Zebras, this weekend at home to Sunshine George Cross.

“The team’s preparation has been excellent. The attitude and commitment of the players has been first class and the club has been fantastic. The team is fit and ready to go.” De Amicis said.

The NPL2 West competition is expected to be fiercely contested. A strong home record is important for the team’s prospects in 2017.

“CB Smith Reserve is a wonderful place to play football, and beneficial for the players. It is important to win every game at home. Defensively, we want to hold our strength and keep our structure to ensure we maintain a strong record at home. It’s imperative to remain strong at home and take that confidence away when we travel. That begins this weekend.” De Amicis said.

The off-season brought a lot of change at most teams in the competition. The Moreland Zebras will present a fresh team where a new cult hero could emerge.

“I am very happy with our midfield and strike force. We’ve got some exciting talent up front that can’t wait for the season to start. We’re also looking to secure another signing to further strengthen our defense.” De Amicis said.

Moreland Zebras face Sunshine George Cross at 4:00pm on Saturday at CB Smith Reserve, Fawkner.
