Footbridge Lighting

Note from the council :

Today we investigated why the bridge lights were not working. The electrician has assured me that the lights were infact working when he tested them yesterday afternoon, however it looks like that the lights did infact go off again last night as a result of a cable fault to the wiring which runs under the bridge as well as an earthing connection from the bridge to the pavilion.

It has been decided that:

  • The bridge light/conduits and wiring will have to be tested to locate the fault. Since this cannot be done form under the bridge we will need to remove the timber decking at each light and test the wiring. This will take quite some time to do and the bridge will be closed while these works are been carried out.

In the mean time tonight there will be limited light operational on the bridge closest to the oval car park. We are planning to get a cherry picker prior to the weekend and attached 3 flood light as a temporary measure around the car park area and have one flood light shining towards the bridge. These flood lights will be attached to 3 existing lighting poles.

I encourage the limited use of the bridge for safety reason up until such time we can get the light fully operational. We also need to consider that we have a long weekend coming. At this point I cannot give you a timeframe until we find out the extent of the 2 electrical faults.
