CANNONS TAKE THE LEGS OUT FROM SPRING GULLY

The Kyneton Cannons continued their winning streak yesterday, by against a much tougher opposition, the Spring Gully Redlegs.

The Cannons came under fire early on, with the Redlegs getting the first goal early on. A quick reply by the tenacious Aidan Willis, saw the scores level just before the break. But on the stroke of half time the Redlegs delievered a warning shot over the bows of a Cannons squad, leading 2-1 as the teams headed for their half time refreshments.

The Cannons did not take their chances in the first half, but all that was about to change. The coaches' halftime address left the Cannons under no uncertain terms, that if they continue with their passing and structured game, another win was beckoning.

In true form, the Cannons rallied and further goals by Aidan Willis and Cael Kelly saw the Kyneton team get a well fought and deserved win in the end. Final score 4-2.

with Hopkins and Rocco rostered off, some questioned the depth in this Cannons team to get up this Saturday. But it only provided an opportunity for others to display their skills. Jasper Selby in defence was impressive, as was the tenacity and skill provided by Isacc Waterson in the midfield. With May taking on goalkeeping responsibilies in the second half, the Hase brothers, Lenny and Jakob, made sure nothing was getting through a tight Cannons defensive line.

Fine performances by Pat Murray and Indigo Saputra consolidated what was definitely a "team performance".

So, the Cannons roll on. I wouldn't want to be their next victim!!!
