Vaughan Coveny appointed Assistant Coach of Victory Youth

North East Diamonds Head Zone Coach and Former New Zealand international, Vaughan Coveny, has been appointed as Melbourne Victory's National Youth League Team's Assistant Coach.

Coveny, is a former New Zealand international who coached South Melbourne in the Victorian Premier League last year before taking charge of the state Under-15 country boy’s team as well as working with the Ballarat Regional Academy.

“It’s great to be working with Darren Davies (Coach), we have very similar views and opinions on how the game should be played,” Coveny said.

“I’ve been around Victoria for a long time now, and I know a lot of the young Victorian players, so I’m here to support Darren and help him out however I can.”

North East Diamonds FC Committee member Domenic Benvenuto was pleased with Coveny's appointment to MVFC.

"It's a great opportunity for Vaughan and also a big bonus for our zone as well. Vaughan is one of the most passionate people you could ever meet in football and he is a real gentleman. He has been able to put together a fantastic team of coaches this year and the zone is off to a great start with everything running very smoothly"

"As our HZC, Vaughan will be well placed to watch Victoria's talented youth over the VCL season and that has to be a great outcome for any ambitious young player. He certainly will have his notebook with him at all times."

Vaughan is also coaching the Diamonds U15 Boys team, who have made the Grand Final 2 years in a row, winning the championship in 2009 and finishing runners up last year.
