Brothers, Sisters and Friends of the Sherrin,
Most should be aware of the destruction caused in Airlie due to Tropical Cyclone Debbie. On Sunday morning I had the chance to talk to Jack Lumby and we are grateful there are no injury reports a number of our Masters Brothers and Sisters have suffered significant property damage. Our first reaction has been what can we do!
Most would have seen Shane Bartlett post indicating the Whitsunday cup is still on but I have asked Jack to review over the next couple of days how does it really look. A lot of sites do not have power, water is just coming on now and clean ups are underway. Depending on replies a lot in Townsville intend to go down at Easters and provide whatever assistance we can. If that means a game of footy to lighten the program up so be it. As the picture becomes clearer I will advise what will be happening, what we might need to take down and where we are most needed. Right now all our love and prayers are with them now and we hope this will be only a temporary setback to a great location, even better club and group of people.
We are starting a fundraiser through our fundraiser manager Julie Mohrwinkel and she is starting a 100 club. There will be all sorts of prizes so get down get your tickets so we can pull some money together. First up we need to buy them a drink or two.
Guys it is important we all get behind this and do whatever we can. Watch this space with more information to follow. Stay safe and will follow up with a Masters Matters.
