Lady Roos Overcome their Demons

In a Thursday night match that was only marred by inaccurate kicking, the Lady Roos managed to put together an all over the field performance to finally overcome long time rivals the Demons. Strong ruck work from Sylvie and marking from Hayley saw the ball move fluidly from the centre to the forward line. Cat was impassable in the backline while Kristen and Juness were solid.more

Lady Roos Bounce Back to Defeat Wildcats

The Lady Roos avenged their early season loss to the Wildcats by coming out strong from the first bounce to lead the Wildcats for all four quarters running out winners by 9 points. Four straight goals by Paige up front and aided by poor Wildcat kicking made sure the Lady Roos were never headed in a hard fought contest.

Good Start by Ottawa too much to Overcome

The Lady Roos were outgunned by Ottawa in the first two quarters of their match but came back strong in the final half to go down by 10 points. Strong performances by new guns Hayley and Cat, combined with club favorites Sylvie, Maddie and Paige saw the Lady Roos close, but not close enough.

Lady Roos Outclassed In Round 1 by Hamilton

Wildcats 6.12.48 def Kangaroos 2.0.12

The Lady Roos had a slow start to their season and were out numbered and out gunned by the Hamilton Wildcats. New recruits Hayley, Lucy and Juness fought hard alongside seasoned campaigners Maddie and Selina, but were unable to be competitive right from the first quarter, but the Lady Roos finished strong.. Maddie kicked the only two goals for the Lady Roos.more

Finals: Lady Roos Out

The Lady Roos were outgunned by the Ottawa Swans in very wet and windy conditions in the Elimination Final played at Humber South. The Roos were unable to kick straight early to put pressure on the Swans eager to show that their win in Ottawa earlier in the season was not a flash in the pan. Although the Lady Roos never gave up they were not able to close the Swans early lead.more

Round 12: Women's Footy on Roger's TV

In an open flowing game played in great spirits the Lady Roos ran out winners by two goals over Hamilton. The score line did not reflect the closeness and quality of the game as Hamilton and the Lady Roos played good open footy on the wide open spaces of Humber South to showcase the Women's game on Roger's TV. The Lady Roos got some help from High Park to even up numbers for this footy first.more

Round 11: Lady Roos over come the Blues

The Lady Roos over came the Blues on their Friends and Family Day to post another win as they run into the last few games before the finals.

The Lady Roos got an early jump on the Blues in the first quarter and had most of the play for the game. Straight kicking could have seen a bigger margin but the Lady Roos held off a late last quarter challenge to run out winners by 10 points.more

Round 9: Swans 1st Qtr too much for Lady Roos

The lady Roos were out muscled in an explosive first quarter from the Ottawa Swans who piled on six quick goals to create a commanding lead they held for the remainder of the game. The remaining three quarters were a tight game with the Lady Roos back in football mode after their slow start. In the end the Swans ran out winners 53 points to 25.more

Round 8: Demons Too Hot for Lady Roos

The Lady Roos played the High Demons for a Thursday Night match under hot and humid conditions. The Lady Roos were never in the match letting High Park off to a big lead training 25 points to 1 in the first quarter. The Lady Roos never gave up and fought back in the second and final quarters but were never able to claw back the margin. High Park ran out winners 67 points to 22.more

Round 5: Lady Roos Win in Hamilton

The Lady Roos played disciplined footy to bring home a strong win against Hamilton in Hamilton. On a day marred by a slow drive out the Lady Roos came to play and only got better as the game progressed. This was a strong team performance with contributions all over the ground from old and new players. Down until half time the Lady Roos dominated the last half of the game to run out winners by 26 points.more

Round 4: Lady Roos Down

It was not the Lady Roos day when they battled out their first match of the year against the seasoned Demons outfit who on the day were just too good.

The Lady Roos chased hard but just could not find a way to open up their forward line to post a score to challenge High Park.more

Round 2: Lady Roos Win

The Lady Roos won their second round of the AFL Ontario season.

In the lead from early in the first quarter the Lady Roos tackled hard in a scrappy match played in soggy conditions at Humber South.

The Lady Roos kept the hapless Blues scoreless except in the second quarter where an off the ground shot go through for the Blues.

The Lady Roos comfortably won by 28 points in a good solid all round team performance. Further work is required on the club song for more memorable celebrations. Go Lady Roosmore

Round 1: Lady Roos Win

The Lady Roos win their season opener against the Ottawa Swans at Humber South.

The Lady Roos got off to a good early start posting five goals in the first half while Ottawa remained scoreless, with two goals to Maddy and Sylvia each with Selina chipping in for the fifth.

The third quarter was again the Lady Roos weakest quarter only scoring a single point to Ottawa's goal and a point.more

Footy starts in Ontario on Saturday May 11 when the Etobicoke Kangaroos take on the Hamilton Wildcats in practice matches.
