R18 vs Noble Park
The ground was perfect, the locals were having a real go and the wind across the ground was very strong and freezing cold. The wind meant that most of the play was on the other side of the oval and everyone had difficulty kicking goals. The only pleasure we could get from the day would be to win. And we did.
For the Seniors to come from 9th position last year, wining 8 more games and making the finals with a double chance was a fitting reward for the incredible amount of work done by all of the Coaching & Recruiting staff pre season and commitment of the players to Kris Barlow’s game plan. The job is far from done, but we are in a excellent position to cause some serious damage
The resolve of the Senior team was clearly demonstrated on Saturday when facing a 5 goal deficit at quarter time, they never stopped believing they could still win. The Reserves probably played their worst game for the year and seemed to be doing everything wrong, and yet in that final term when things looked bleak, they somehow found a spark a got over the line. Belief is a wonderful thing.
Highlights of the day ( and there were very few )
- The commitment shown by Aaron Nummy & Dave Edgcumbe who had been dropped to the Twos and played their hearts out.
- The long run and goal from Shane Davidson in the third quarter
- The run and goal by Ryan Mullett from the opening bounce of the final term.
- Robbie Ross’s last quarter was a match winner.
Next Saturday we play Scoresby at Bayswater in a Qualifying Final
