To many Tony Rocket Andrews still remains one of the best Mitcham players to ever pull on the jumper and brought so much joy to the Mitcham faithful. Goals win matches and Tony was clearly the League’s most dominate full forward kicking 601 goals over 6 years at an average 100 goals per season, with 132 goals season in 1982. He played in 5 consecutive Division One Grand finals for 3 Premierships in 1979, 1980 & 1981 and was pivotal in the clubs dominance during that time.
His strength, size, judgement, towering ability to take one grab marks were simply unbeatable,Finished off by a technically correct and extraordinary accurate kick for goal at an 80% conversion rate.
UN like many, Tony gave both on and off the field and Post Football used his accountancy skills to tale on the role of Club Treasurer, A role he performed with the same accuracy of his kicking for goals. Tony was awarded Life Membership of The Mitcham Football Club in 1991 and continues to attend Mitcham matches on a regular basis
We congratulate Tony Andrews on his elevation to become the 13th Hall of Fame Member of the Mitcham Football Club in our 130th year.
