Anzac round had us travelling to Lilydale to take on the Falcons a club we haven’t played for a number of years. Unfortunately it didn’t prove to be a very happy hunting ground for the Tigers as our seniors and under 19s were soundly beaten but at least the twos managed to get the four points. The under 19s were simply out played by a far more skilled, drilled and Physical side, one that took its toll on our boys has we finished the game with 17 fit players. The Reserves looked to have the game under control at half time but let the Dales back in during the third term and were forced to work very hard in the last to get the win. The seniors missed the jump and let the Dales pile on 7 first quarter goals which proved to be the difference. Plenty of work for all 3 sides to do heading into next week’s clash against Wanny STH @ home
Under 19s Coaches Report
Going into the game we had a couple of key outs but were confident we could put up a good show against a quality Lilydale side. Our discipline in the first half held us in good stead and we only trailed by 14 ponits at the main break. Josh Kable continued his good form as did Julian Rambaldo. Unfortunately we lost a couple just on half time, and with no bench, our intensity dropped away after half time. Once Lilydale gained their composure and focus they got their running game going and while we battled on, we were simply no match for the Dales in the second half.Plenty to work on going forward and hopefully we should see a couple of players return this week and after the bye
Reserve Coaches Report
Travelling over to Lilydale this week was always going to be a challenge as they came down from Division 1 this year. We got off to a great start kicking 4 goals to 1 and we were playing well with great run from our half backs and mids whilst taking our chances to convert. The back half of the second quarter we dropped off and let them back in however we went into the long break 4 goals ahead. In the 3rd Lilydale came out firing kicking 5 goals to zero to take the lead going into the last, our run had stopped and the we looked stunned. I asked for a response in the final term and to boys credit I got one, it was an arm wrestle till we kicked ahead to win by 7 points. Bluey out of the Middle was terrific all day and Danger Glanville up forward kicked 4, I was pleased to get an even performance across the group and to get the win just gives us more confidence as we bond tighter together. Thanks for the support to all that came along we all appreciate the Tiger army.
Senior Coaches Report
Round 3 had us traveling out to Lilydale for the Anzac round game. We knew that they were a young quick side so we needed to bring the defensive that we did for the first 2 rounds. Unfortunately right from the start we were unable to do so and were made to look very ordinary by an impressive outfit. We were outworked and outclassed all day long and couldn't match the will and desire that Lilydale to their credit displayed all day. We now know that if we don't come ready to play and bring the defensive pressure and teamwork that we did in the opening 2 rounds that we will not get the desired result. Well done to Jackson Glossop and Daniel Johnson on fantastic games down back, if it wasn't for those 2 guys the scoreboard would've been much uglier. Looking forward to seeing us bounce back next week at home against Wantirna South.
