Sometimes it’s not about when you lead, or how long you lead for, just so long as you have your nose in front when the final siren goes - Today was one of those days. 1st XVIII run in to a red hot Upper Ferntree Gully who led for all but the final 2 and half minutes as the tigers snatched a 3 point win. Jay Hoegel and James McCubbin both booted two with James also named best along with Ryan, Glossop, Willenbergb Murray and Toohey. 2nd XVIII never really looked like it, out played and out worked for most of the game. Glanville with 3 headed the goal kickers with Sciortino, Wylde, Taylor, Kable, Barro, and Johnson all named in the best

To say we couldn’t get our engine started is an understatement as we dished up our worst performance for the year against a hungry Upper Gully, they simply out worked us from the first bounce. Our 1st half was substandard as we struggled to get the footy, missed opportunities and simple errors in our backline cost us dearly to head into the main break 4 goal down. We did correct some area’s through the 3rd qtr as kicked 4 goals to 2 and had the better of the term however to UG credit they kept at it to hold us off and take the win by 12 points. Better players were Josh Kable in the ruck who was super all day with his marks and run across the grd, Nick again showed he’s in good form with another solid effort at full back and Tayles was hard at it as always. After the a disappointing 2 weeks we have to show character to respond, I have every confidence in our group and we are a proud bunch. Hard work and a team 1st attitude will be our focus this week on the track. Thanks to all that came down.

Senior Coaches Report
This week we had a crucial home fixture against Upper Ferntree Gully. It was a must win game this week to keep in touch with the top 4, so we needed to come out firing and set the tone from the beginning. Inexplicably Upper Gully were much more desperate and harder around the contest and played are more unified brand of footy than we did making us look soft at times. Luckily we were still in the contest at half time only trailing by 20 points. Our 2nd half was much better, we lifted our intensity around the contest and started to get the ascendancy around the stoppages to wrestle back the momentum and start pegging back the deficit. We had most of the play in the last quarter but missed some gettable set shots which would've put us in front, until Marc Parente swooped on a loose ball in the goal square and gave us the lead and we were able to hang on in the final minutes for a well earned 3 point win. James McCubbin was fantastic when swung into attack in the 2nd half and Jackson Glossop was outstanding all day across half back. Another crucial game awaits us next week against Wantirna Sth who we narrowly lost too earlier in the season, hopefully we took a big step forward in the 2nd half and showed each other what we can do when we play together and work for each other. Thanks again to all the supporters who came out and helped us get across the line we really appreciate your support.
