Our Club is thrilled to announce our new Senior Playing Coach for 2014 is

Chris is a powerfully built forward/midfielder who comes to Silvan after a year spent at one of 2nd Division bench mark clubs Mooroolbark. Where Chris was a playing assistant coach under Brett Fisher. Chris was one of Mooroolbark's best players in the Mustangs losing Grand Final against the all conquering Montrose this year, kicking four goals in wet & windy conditions.
Chris, 31 played at Eastern Rangers in 2000 and kicked a record 82 goals for the year! Amazingly that record of 82 goals in a single season still stands today! Chris was also selected in the TAC Cup Team Of The Year in 2000. Along side the likes of Drew Petrie & Jimmy Bartel.
Chris's senior playing career took him to 1st Division club Lilydale, where he first played under the highly rated senior coach Brett Fisher. Such is Chris's leadership capabilities he captained Lilydale for three seasons.
Chris's first taste of senior coaching began in 2009 when Chris took the senior reigns at YVMDFL 1st Div club Mt Evelyn. Chris spent four years as senior coach at Mt Evelyn before moving to Mooroolbark this year.
Chris is looking forward to further developing our many young and talented players, as well as bringing renewed enthusiasm to our more experienced guys. As Chris was courted by many clubs chasing new senior coaches this year, we feel this appointment is a credit to our club. And just another example of our stability and unity that helps us attract quality people to Silvan!
Chris and his wife Lisa, have four young children, Olivia, Patrick, Jaxon & Kyan. And as we pride ourselves as being a family club, Chris's large contingent will fit in perfectly!
We would like to extend a warm welcome to Chris, Lisa & children to Silvan F.C. and wish him and the family all the best in season 2014.

With Gordon "Jack" Sumner stepping down from the role to spend more time with family, the club is very pleased to announce BRETT HARTMAN has been appointed as a non playing senior assistant coach to Chris Murphy for season 2014.
Brett, an EFL life member is no stranger to many at Silvan. Brett played a pivotal role in helping our club secure our first ever back to back senior premierships in 07 & 08, taking our senior premiership tally to nine. He continued to play senior footy at Silvan with our move into the EFL. Where Brett past the magical 300 EFL senior game milestone, to earn him league life membership.
Brett's coaching & playing career spans many years. His first taste as senior coach was at Coldstream, taking the Cougars to the 2001 4th Div premiership, to go with a runner up in 3rd Div in 2003. (We now play Coldstream for the "Brett Hartman Sheild" in honour of Brett's contribution to both clubs.)
Brett then made a move to 2nd Div club at the time "The Basin" where he won a League B&F in 1995. He then moved to North Ringwood where he played in the Saints 1999 2nd Div flag. Brett then moved on to the senior coaching role at The Basin in the mid 2000s before arriving at Silvan in 07.
With Brett's proven coaching record, along with his very astute football brain, he will no doubt help our playing group get the best out of themselves as we strive to experience premiership glory again! Brett will not only be Chris Murphy's right hand man on game day, he will also serve as "Chairman of Selectors" during the week. Brett & Chris Murphy have a long history together in football and both have similar philosophy's on how to develop & promote youth. As well a keeping the more experienced guys enjoying their footy and always looking for ways improve them.
Even though Brett has been involved at many clubs over his football journey, he calls Silvan his "home club." He's extremely passionate about our footy club and is looking forward to helping us grow in the EFL.
It's with this we welcome Brett, Jenelle and young son Jett to this official role at Silvan. And wish him & family every success in 2014.

The club would like to take this opportunity to thank Jack & Renata for their efforts in 2013 and look forward to seeing them at Silvan in the not to distant future. Thanks Jack!
