Naomi Maidment making history in the SANFL

It has been a massive year for women in sport this year with the Matilda's, Southern Stars and Michelle Payne having great success in traditionally male dominated international sports

Recently history was also made closer to home within our Female Coaching ranks, with Naomi Maidment's appointment to the role of head coach of the West Adelaide Football Club U16 Centre of Excellence.

Not only has Naomi become the first female head coach within the South Australian National Football League, she was also awarded Female Coach of the Year at the annual SANFL Coaches Awards.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
