2016 SAWFL Season Information & Dates for U18's

UNDER 18 GIRLS

The SAWFL and the SANFL are working together to bring the SANFL Under 15 Girls competition in line with the SAWFL Under 18 Girls competition where possible.

 12 teams have nominated.

 At this stage, for the integrity of the competition, we will not split the 12 teams into two divisions.

Minor Rounds:

o Commences on 8th April and concludes on 22nd July

o 11 minor rounds, with teams playing each other once

Major Rounds:

o Commences on 29th July and concludes with the Grand Final on 19th or 21st August (venue TBC)

o Four week major round (inc. Grand Final), with the top 5 teams to compete in finals.

o The structure of the final five system can be found at clause 25.4 of the SAWFL By-Laws.

Bye Rounds:

o 22nd April (Middle Weekend of Term 1 School Holidays)

o 29th April & 6th May (U18 Girls National Championships TBC)

o 10th June (June Long Weekend)

o 15th June (Middle Weekend of Term 2 School Holidays)

Age Requirements:

o As per section 12.27 of the SAWFL By-Laws, for a player to be eligible to play in this competition she must be:

At least 15 years old on 1st January 2016 (underage players may be eligible to apply for dispensation, please refer to the SAWFL By-Laws Annex F Dispensation Policy)

Under the age of 18 years on 1st January 2016

Overage players are not permitted in this competition

Changes to By-Laws:

o A reminder that a number of changes have been made to the SAWFL By-Laws ahead of the 2016 season, including the Under 18 Girls competition increasing to a 15-a-side competition (min 12, max 18) played on a full sized oval with 4 x 17 minutes quarters and longer breaks. Please ensure you and other club personnel are familiar with and understand the By-Laws.
