Maori Hill JFC’s 11th grade Red and Crimson teams were the club’s top competitive grade performers in the second round of 2013 junior football, with both teams securing strong wins.

Under coach Greg Barnes, the 11th Red team took their tally to two wins and an impressive 14 goals from their opening two games of the season, downing their Caversham opponents 7-2 in a dominant display.

Meanwhile, the all-girls 11th Crimson team gave their coach Pete Young a welcome birthday present in the form of a 2-0 victory over their all-girls opponents from Grants Brae. Despite numerous chances, the Maori Hill girls were unable to find the back of the net in the first half. Things changed in the second half with Hannah Matehaere opening the scoring for Maori Hill, and Georgia Ward following up with a second goal that put the game beyond the reach of Grants Brae.
